I’m back! After a couple of months off, I’m returning to The Realistic Minimalist in order to get a kickstart for 2023. That is the year that I really focus on my blogs and writing for fun! Before I get stuck into ‘proper’ content, I thought we could have a catch-up with my Life Lately December 2022 blog post.
BUSINESS
It’s been a bit of a slow couple of months with my business, despite adding a couple of clients. I’m doing just about the bare minimum as I’ve been feeling a little demotivated for a while. I really do enjoy what I do but I have to work hard for every penny that I earn. Looking into multiple income streams is definitely something on my 2023 goals list!
BLOGGING
Another area that I’ve fallen out of love with is blogging. I’ve done the posts that need doing (press night reviews for theatre shows) but other than that, I’ve posted very little. I think I just get overwhelmed with how much I want to do that I simply do nothing!
Because of this, I’m trying to get back into proper content planning so I can keep track of what I want to post and when. Ideally, I’ll post Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to The English Everygirl, Tuesday and Thursday to this blog, and Mondays to my Content by Sian blog. If I can stick to this throughout December, I can launch my money blog in January!
HEALTH
Unfortunately, I caught the flu early last week and am only just starting to recover. I genuinely can’t remember being this sick since 2019 (no, I’ve not had Covid). Holy moly, it’s wiped me out for over a week! I stayed in bed for a fair few days and have slowly been trying to move slowly since last weekend.
This meant that my Project50 didn’t work out again. This is a lifestyle challenge to improve your overall health and fitness and live your best life! I’ll probably start it again in the New Year.
FUN
I’ve cancelled a lot of trips lately, from days out to longer breaks, because of train strikes and not feeling my best self. My next trip isn’t until mid-January when I’ve rearranged a trip to London for my 30th birthday. I’ve not seen a theatre show since the end of October and I’m having major withdrawal symptoms.
That meant that I watched a lot of TV. From the Rugby League World Cup (I barely missed a game) to box sets (I’m rewatching Gilmore Girls and Grey’s Anatomy right now), I’ve spent a lot of time in bed or on the sofa.
WINTER
I know a lot of people don’t but I love winter. Christmas, New Year, and my birthday all fall within three weeks of each other so I adore this time of year! Other than that, I’m really embracing the cosy vibes: blankets, pyjamas, my dressing gowns, reading, dim lighting, lots of snacks, and hot chocolate. You name it, I’m going for it in winter.
I’ve really been appreciating having a slower pace of life because for years, I’ve been all go, go, go. As I’ve gotten older and especially since the pandemic, I’ve learned that I need to slow down and that it’s 100% okay to do so.
My winter capsule wardrobe is also on the agenda, which is always a fun afternoon for me! Check out my previous wardrobes right here.
THE CHRISTMAS BREAK
I’m giving myself some proper time off this year because who doesn’t want to fully relax over Christmas? This is the tie I use to plan for the New Year, alongside reviewing the previous year. I’ll be doing a lot of blog post writing to get prepared for January in advance too!
I’ve also got to create my Chrimbo Limbo to-do list. You know that time between Christmas and New Year when you have no idea what day it is? That’s the Chrimbo Limbo! I always write a to-do list of jobs that I want to get done. Usually, it’s a mix of decluttering, setting up for the new year, and jobs that I keep putting off until now!
And that’s my life lately December 2022! December and winter are always such a fun time for me, especially now I’m self-employed and can actually enjoy Christmas and relax. I do not miss working in retail at this time of year, absolute madness!
Did you enjoy my life lately December 2022 blog post? Should I do these monthly catch-ups every month from now on? Leave me a comment below with your thoughts! Hopefully, I’ll upload more to Instagram too!
