MY WINTER 2025 BEAUTY

There’s something about a new season that makes me want to switch up my beauty routines and the products I use. I don’t make too many changes but the colder weather means a need for more hydration and moisturisation (is that a word?). Here’s a look at my winter 2025 beauty, looking at my routines and favourite products.

About my skin

If you’ve followed my posts on my other blog, you might know that I’ve had eczema since I was a baby. Whilst it’s not as bad as it used to be, I still have very dry skin, especially in the winter, and it’s very sensitive. That means I can only use fragrance-free products, which means 90% of skincare and beauty products on the market are not good for me!

I’ve also tried the complicated beauty routines for my face, hair and body, and the simpler the routines, the better for me. I do have a basic routine but then use a few products sparingly to add extra hydration.

AM skincare routine

In the morning, I can never be bothered with a 14-step routine. If it takes longer than five minutes, I’m not interested! I start with the B. micellar water as my cleanser before popping on a layer of The Ordinary’s hyaluronic acid serum. Next, I use Boots Ingredients hyaluronic acid moisturiser as my first moisturiser before using Superdrug’s Vitamin E SPF 15 day cream. My skin needs the extra moisture during the winter because it is dry as hell. I finish off with the Boots Everyday cucumber eye cream and that’s everything.

PM skincare routine

To start my evening routine, I use Byoma’s Jelly Cleanser before double cleaning with micellar water again. I also use hyaluronic acid serum and moisturiser to get in extra moisture. After that, I use Superdrug’s Vitamin E intense moisture cream and it’s so thick that it takes months to get through one tub. I use the same eye gel in the evening too but am on the hunt for another.

Weekly skincare extras

This is what I’ve tried to make into a routine as whilst I’m consistent with my daily skincare, I’m not when it comes to extra pampering. Twice a week, I use the Boots Ingredients hyaluronic acid sleep mask. It’s a thick gel consistency and I like to apply it before bed so it has eight or more hours to sink in. I use these gold eye patches twice a week too but buy them from Savers as they come in bulk packs.

Once a week during my shower, I like to use the e.l.f Holy Hydration daily cleanser as my exfoliator on my face, neck, chest and underarms. It says it’s a daily cleanser but it was too harsh on my skin to use every day. Whenever I wear heavy make-up, I use Superdrug’s sensitive face wipes. I know face wipes are bad but I only use them when I wear foundation, which is rarely. I also use Boots Everyday sensitive skin eye make-up remover for heavy mascara and eyeshadow days.

Haircare routine

If you thought my skincare routine was simple, my haircare is even simpler! I wash my hair one to two times a week, depending on how many ‘out of the house’ plans I have. For right now, I’m trying to use up a bunch of old shampoos and conditioners while I do Project Pan. When I use a matching set, I swear by the Noughty Care Taker unscented shampoo and conditioner. Before drying, I use Superdrug’s own brand of heat protection spray with my new Babyliss hairdryer that I got for my birthday and that’s it.

If my hair is particularly greasy, I’ve started using the Aveeno clarifying apple cider vinegar shampoo. My scalp is quite dry at the moment so I’m using it every other wash.

Bodycare routine

Thanks to my eczema, I can’t use many scented products. It means my bodycare routine is simple. The only shower gel I ever use is Sanex and my favourite is the hypoallergenic one for very sensitive skin. Once I’m out of the shower (and every morning and night), I smother my body in Diprobase. I’ve used it since I was a baby and it’s the only eczema that’s ever worked for me.

Keeping clean the rest of the time means a good roll-on deodorant. I have sensitive skin and I can get a bit sweaty. That’s why I rely on the unscented Mitchum roll-on. I follow up with a quick spritz of Superdrug’s body spray in Seduce. If I’m leaving the house, I’ll spray So’s vanilla body mist as I love the scent.

Thoughts on make-up

I’ll be honest, ever since the pandemic, it’s a rare occasion that I wear make-up. However, I do find that when I wear it, I get a little confidence boost. Even just a bit of concealer and a swipe of mascara does a girl wonders! The only times recently when I’ve done a full face is when I’ve been to the theatre or a concert. However, in 2025, I’d love to wear it more, especially whenever I leave the house. I still have quite a bit of extra make-up as well as the stuff on regular rotation. In fact, I’ve bulk-bought items previously because my favourite stuff (usually mascaras) always gets discontinued!

And that’s everything in my winter 2025 beauty wrap-up. I’ve definitely tried to educate myself on my skin especially and which products I can and can’t use. The issue is that if something works for my skin, I have a habit of buying it up in bulk in case it disappears off the shelves.
