SPRING 2025 CAPSULE WARDROBE WISHLIST

One thing that I’m excited to get back to is wearing the clothes I have hung in my wardrobe. I’ve bought a few items recently so I’m excited to wear them. However, I have noticed a few gaps so here’s my spring 2025 capsule wardrobe wishlist.

Some basic T-shirts and vests

I recently bought a bunch of striped and basic T-shirts from M&S but I think I need a few more, especially in plain colours. In my current collection, I have a bunch of slogan T-shirts but I’m always on the lookout for more. It’s probably the largest category in my wardrobe but I like having choice. I tend to only buy quality cotton so they last a good few years. I’ll be going to M&S, Uniqlo and Next for a range of tops. M&S do the best thinner T-shirts, Next have a great range of heavy-duty cotton T-shirts and Uniqlo do the bra tops that everyone raves about. I’ve just bought a pale pink vest version and although I’m yet to wear it, it’s a flattering style. I also need a few cotton vests for the summer too and I always shop in M&S.

An oversized shirt

I love the slouchy casual but dressy look and an oversized shirt is such a cute look. Having a larger bust means that I can’t wear fitted button-up shirts because they never fit quite right. However, I have a feeling the oversized fit is more my style anyway. I’m sure it will look perfect with jeans, joggers and trousers so it’s all about finding the right shade. I love the light blue ones but maybe a white one would be more versatile.

A colourful cardigan

I dress like a tomboy most of the time but I do enjoy dressing cute from time to time. I’m also not massive on colour but a pop of colour with a neutral outfit is very me. A colourful, thin-knit cardigan would be a great addition to my spring wardrobe, maybe in a bright blue, red or pink shade and it would look great against a plain white or black T-shirt. I’m very fussy about knitwear so it’ll be an item that I have to try on in person as I often find knitwear really itchy.

A beige sweatshirt

I do have lots of sweatshirts already but I’m on the lookout for an oversized beige sweatshirt. It’s hard to find one without a slogan on it so I know I’m going to have to dig a little. Again, I’ll start with my go-to shops before venturing out if I have to. I’m open to getting a slogan sweatshirt, especially if it’s F1 or book-themed!

A black fitted polo shirt

Another piece that would be easy to dress up or down is a black polo shirt, preferably in a ribbed, cotton material. I’m not talking about a school-style one because I have a baby face and don’t want to look like I’m in my PE kit again. Maybe it will have some funky buttons or be more of a soft knit instead of cotton. I’m open to finding any version!

A pair of leather trainers

I’ve been on the hunt for some leather trainers for ages. I’ve got pairs in grey and tan but they’re looking a little worse for wear. I’d love a white pair but I always get them so dirty so quickly. I’d love a black pair but above everything, they have to be comfortable. I love regular Nike trainers but the mesh is no good for when it rains. My tan and grey pairs are from Hotter so whilst they’re not fashionable, they’re lightweight and comfy enough to wear all day long. I’ll be spending £50+ on them so they must fit all of my criteria.

A pair of dressy flats

I don’t want them to be too flat because my feet and knees need some support. However, I need something dressier for days/nights out at the theatre because trainers are not always going to cut it. I love the look of driving loafers so maybe I’ll get myself a pair but they’ll have to be leather because suede and rain don’t mix well. I’ll probably buy a pair in a neutral shade because when it comes to footwear, I like to be able to wear every pair of shoes with every outfit I wear.

A lightweight jacket

I have a few padded bomber jackets but I’m after a new-to-me style. It will be a high spend so I’ll be trying stuff on. It could be a trench jacket, a lightweight zip-up sports style or even a denim jacket. Again, I’ll probably go to M&S and Uniqlo because they have plenty of choice and I know they’re good quality. I’d rather pay a little more to get the perfect fit.

A black leather biker jacket

An essential for my entire teenage and young adult life was having a black pleather jacket. I wore mine from H&M to death before it started to peel because obviously, it wasn’t very good quality. I doubt I’ll buy one this season but I’ll definitely be on the lookout for one and if it’s a bargain, I’ll buy it. Ideally, I don’t want a leather one because it feels a bit icky to buy leather but pleather would be a good option again. However, I also won’t pay over the odds for it.

A pair of lightweight trousers

I’m giving myself a choice here because I have no idea what colour or style I want. The only criteria I have is that they must be a dressy style as all of mine are cotton and casual. I’m also petite so straight or tapered legs are a must. Wide legs look ridiculous on me because there’s just too much material going on. They also must have an elasticated waist because I will wear them mostly to eat out and need some wiggle room.

A pair of denim shorts

I can’t remember the last time that I bought shorts to leave the house in. I have plenty of sweatshirt shorts for wearing around the house. In fact, I don’t think I’ve had denim shorts since I was in college! Again, I’m all about comfort so I’d like them to have a stretchy waistband and fit mid-thigh. I don’t want knee-length culottes but a longer fit will cover more thigh!

A pair of lightweight shorts

Because I’m not a girly girl, shorts are better than skirts for me. They need to be lightweight because I hate heavy fabric when it’s hot outside. I’ll probably stick to black or khaki because neutrals are easy to style. Again, a stretchy waist is a necessity. I also have a black fitness skort so I could potentially go outside my comfort zone a little and get one in another colour.

A new pair of sunglasses

I tend to buy cheap ones but I do need a new pair. Typically, I go for Aviators or Wayfarers as they just suit my face better but I’m open to other styles. If I try them on and I like them, I’m buying them. This is an item I often only buy from Primark because I don’t get to wear them too often. You don’t need them much when you work from home!

Some delicate jewellery

It’s been an age since I wore jewellery but I want to start building a nice collection again. We’re talking gold and silver pieces, mostly a couple of necklaces and a selection of rings really. I won’t build the full collection of pieces but I’d love to get a couple of pieces. In fairness, I should probably go through the jewellery I already own and see if there’s any I could wear more for the time being!

As you can see, I prioritise comfort above everything else. I’m done feeling uncomfortable in my own clothes. I work from home so I live in joggers so when I do leave the house, I’m so used to comfort that I want to continue that feeling. My spring 2025 capsule wardrobe wishlist is full of pieces that I know will complement the items that I already have.
