MY ENTIRE WARDROBE 2025

my-entire-wardrobe-2025-header

I’ve been doing capsule wardrobes for years now and I thought it was about time that I did a full wardrobe inventory. I’m sure I’ll have missed some items off but here is currently my entire wardrobe 2025.

TOPS

BASE LAYERS

Number of items: 11 short-sleeved tops, 9 long-sleeved tops

These are a mixture of basic tees and thermal tops. I never wear these as an outer layer, only under sweatshirts, jumpers and hoodies. I’m happy with my short-sleeved collection, getting quality items from M&S and Uniqlo. However, I need to work on my long-sleeved collection a little more. I have four thermal tops that have seen better days and would love to add a couple more Gap waffle tops in too.

To do: Replace thermals

Gaps: Neutral-coloured long-sleeved waffle tops

SHORT-SLEEVED TOPS

Number of items: 22

It might seem like a high number but I wear all of these regularly. I doubt I’ll ever be the person with just 33 items in the wardrobe like all the capsule wardrobe ‘experts’ suggest. I like to have a range but I’m sure I will whittle this down at some point during the course of the year. 6 items in there that won’t last the entire year and I’ve got 2 new additions for my birthday so far.

To do: Nothing.

Gaps: None.

LONG-SLEEVED TOPS

Number of items: 18

Seven out of the 18 were new in 2024 as I needed to replace some older ones. 11 of them are striped. I know it’s too many but they’re just the easiest item to throw on during spring/autumn under any jacket. Once again, I’ve gradually switched out cheaper pieces with M&S, Fat Face and Joules tops because they’re better quality and last much longer. The trick is to shop them in the sales as you often get 2 for 1 when compared to their full price!

To do: Nothing.

Gaps: None.

KNITWEAR + SWEATSHIRTS

KNITWEAR

Number of items: 4 (2 jumpers, 1 zip-up hoodie, 1 cardigan)

This is probably my smallest collection ever because I’m just so fussy about the materials of knitwear. Because of my sensitive skin and eczema, it’s rare that I buy knitwear online so I only really buy it in person in Next or M&S. I don’t even think I wore either jumper in 2024 so if they don’t get worn again, I’ll get rid of them. The zip-up hoodie is super comfy but I returned one in another colour as the sleeve seams came apart after one wear. The cardigan was a Vinted bargain and looks similar to the folklore Taylor Swift one, just without the price tag!

To do: Wear the jumpers or get rid.

Gaps: An oversized beige/tan jumper.

SWEATSHIRTS

Number of items: 19 (13 crew neck sweatshirts, 6 half-zip sweatshirts, 2 over-the-head hoodies)

I’ve collated this sweatshirt collection over a few years and I have to admit, it’s my favourite section in my wardrobe. I’ve added five new sweatshirts recently as well as a hoodie and I consider them all to be key pieces now. I think I’ll probably end up getting rid of 4 sweatshirts, 4 half-zips and maybe a hoodie as they’ve just shrunk in the wash.

To do: Have a declutter in autumn.

Gaps: None.

BOTTOMS

JEANS

Number of items: 5 pairs that I wear regularly and a bunch in storage

Having fewer jeans works well for me because they’re my most versatile items. However, I bought a bunch of different styles from Vinted since lockdown and wear approximately none of them. They’re currently in storage so I need to get them all out, try them on and see if I do want to keep them or not. The jeans that I do wear, I wear them so frequently.

To do: Declutter my collection in storage.

Gaps: Black jeans of any style.

TROUSERS

Number of items: 6

If they’re not comfy trousers, I’m not interested. I prefer a loose fit too so I can eat as much as I want. Over Christmas, I finally replaced my beloved black cotton joggers with a new pair as well as a grey pair too. These six pairs will make do for interviews, nights out at the theatre and whenever I fancy dressing up a little.

To do: Nothing

Gaps: Maybe a more fitted pair?

SHORTS

Number of items: 10 (5 sweatshirt shorts, 1 workout shorts, 4 pairs of summer shorts)

I bought a few new pairs during the end-of-summer sales and that should do me for another year or so. The only pair I might consider is a dressy pair to wear for summer outings. However, I’ve yet to find a style that I really love.

To do: Find the perfect pair of summer shorts.

Gap: Denim shorts, dressy shorts.

SHOES

SHOES

Number of items: 15 (9 pairs of trainers, 4 pairs of boots, 1 pair of loafers, 1 pair of brogues, 1 pair of sandals)

My previous love in life has now been broken up with and now I have just 15 pairs (I used to have over 50 at one point!). I’d say three of these are pairs I’m unsure about keeping. I think this will be the biggest category that I overhaul in 2025 as I need some dark leather trainers and some new boots. Nowadays, I go more for comfort over style!

To do: Wear all shoes or get rid.

Gaps: Black everyday trainers, comfy biker boots to wear in winter.

OUTERWEAR

JACKETS

Number of items: 4

I love a padded bomber jacket so they’ll probably go out of fashion very soon. I have three in light blue, light pink and black, all from M&S, as well as a black cotton oversized version. All three jackets are constant in my everyday outfits, although I wear the padded ones a lot more. However, I’d like to expand my collection and get myself a denim jacket for the summer and a new pleather jacket for autumn.

To do: Research jacket styles and try lots of them on.

Gaps: Denim jacket, leather jacket.

COATS

Number of items: 5

When it comes to coats, I’m in the house of practicality over style. All five of my coats are waterproof (to an extent), ranging from a cag in a bag to thicker winter coats. Sure, I’d love a more stylish collection of coats but it’s rare that it’s cold and dry in the UK!

To do: Give all coats a deep clean + re-waterproofing.

Gaps: None.

LOUNGEWEAR

Number of items: 36 (22 short-sleeved tops, 6 pairs of joggers, 8 hoodies/fleeces)

This is what I call purgatory for most items. I tend to wear those items that I still like but that aren’t my favourites in my loungewear category. I’m aware that 36 items is a lot but I think it’ll be halved at least by the end of 2025. Most of the short-sleeved tops are ones that have shrunk slightly but I still like them enough to wear at home. I need to replace some of my joggers and fleeces though so that will be a bigger investment in 2025.

To do: Wear as much as possible before getting rid.

Gaps: New joggers, thermal joggers, another zip-up hoodie.

EXTRAS

Number of items: 26

  • Occasionwear tops – 9
  • Football/rugby shirts – 16
  • Christmas tops/jumpers – 6
  • Suits – 2

In terms of extras, I really don’t wear any of these that regularly. I’ll never part with my football/rugby shirts because they’re part of my lifestyle and don’t take up that much space. I’ve just got rid of a Christmas T-shirt that no longer fits along with three pairs of workwear trousers. The occasionwear tops are either dressy tops or musical-themed tops that I only wear when I see that show.

To do: Depending on space, put these items into plastic storage boxes.

Gaps: Workout gear, smart trousers.

As you can see, my entire wardrobe 2025 is quite large. However, many items are seasonal so that’s why I rely on capsule wardrobes every quarter. I’m sure I’ll get rid of items throughout the year and hopefully minimise new additions.
